Verify your downloads

Checksums let you confirm that your downloaded file is exactly what we published — not corrupted in transit and not tampered with. Compare the hash below with the one you compute locally. They must match exactly.

What is a checksum?

A checksum (or hash) is like a digital fingerprint of a file. It's a short string of letters and numbers produced by running the file through a mathematical formula — in our case, SHA-256.

If even one single bit of the file changes — whether from corruption during download, a network error, or malicious tampering — the checksum will be completely different.

By comparing the checksum you compute on your downloaded file with the one we publish here, you can be 100% certain the file is authentic and intact.

How to verify on your device

Windows (PowerShell)

Open PowerShell in the folder where you downloaded the file and run:

PS> Get-FileHash .\BrainHub-Windows.zip -Algorithm SHA256 → Compare the "Hash" value with the one above

Android

Use a free hash checker app like Hash Checker or Hash Droid from the Play Store. Open the app, select the APK file, and compare the SHA-256 value.

Always download hash-checking apps from trusted sources.

Common questions

Why should I bother verifying a checksum?

Verifying a checksum protects you against file corruption (incomplete downloads, storage errors) and supply-chain attacks where a malicious actor might replace the legitimate file with a tampered version. It takes 10 seconds and gives you peace of mind.

What if the checksums don't match?

Do not run or install the file. Delete it immediately and download a fresh copy from our official download page. If the mismatch persists, contact us so we can investigate.

Is SHA-256 secure enough?

Yes. SHA-256 is the industry standard for file verification and is used by governments, banks, and software companies worldwide. It's cryptographically secure — finding two different files with the same SHA-256 hash is computationally infeasible with today's technology.
